Maryland Officer Shot, Suspect Wounded

A suspect opened fire, hitting the uniformed Prince George's County police officer in the arm and another officer returned fire, wounding one of the four suspects they had stopped.

A Prince George's County police officer was shot and a suspect was wounded in a shootout Wednesday night, according to WUSA-TV.

The shooting occurred on Marblewood Avenue near Reed Street in Capitol Heights at approximately 10:40 p.m., Cpl. Henry Tippett told the news station.

He said the officers, "Stopped a group of males engaged in some suspicious activity."

One of the suspects opened fire at the uniformed officer, hitting him in the arm.

Another officer returned fire, wounding one of the suspects in the arm.

All four suspects were taken into custody and the officer and the wounded suspect were both transported to Prince George's Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries
