From our original home in Perth, Australia in 2009, Alexium International has grown dynamically into a global brand. Headquartered in Greer, South Carolina Alexium has expanded from its bedding and mattress markets to the US military branches, transportation sector, body armor and clothing apparel.
At our core, we’re a trusted visionary of phase-change material (PCM) and other specialty textile solutions. Every fiber of our advanced R&D team of scientists and chemists are always finding new ways to deploy custom solutions in rapid succession. We work tirelessly with our commercial partners to develop stand-alone products and additives that augment the physical properties of textile and non-textile applications. Alexium, Inc is proud to introduce our newest addition, Eclipsys,™ our composite fabric that offers responsive and adaptive cooling to body armor vests and reduces overall heat stress leading to a potential decrease in fatigue level.
This new, patent-pending cooling technology brings breakthrough innovation to the body armormarket that law enforcement, first responders and defense sectors have demanded. How Does It Work?
Eclipsys™ is a composite fabric that when inserted into body armor provides responsive cooling. The hotter the wearer gets, the more actively it will cool the person down. The adaptive cooling continuously moves heat away from the body with the cooling potential of a 5-pound block of ice over a 12-hour span. Eclipsys™ is easily modified to match any body armor panel build or shape.
Application of Eclipsys™ A2512 to body armor panel is simple. The Eclipsys™ A2512 is a composite fabric that is constructed of laminated layers. The face layer is coated with our microencapsulated Phase Change Material (mPCM) to provide the aesthetic of “cool to the touch”.
The “back” of Eclipsys™ A2512 has a peel away layer that exposes an adhesive layer to allow the Eclipsys™ fabric to be adhered to the non-strike side of the armor panel. The adhesive is sufficiently strong to adhere the panel to the body armor and not detach. Two (2) Eclipsys panels should be cut to provide a panel for the front and back armor panel.
