AKRON, OH—It is a case that, when you first hear it, might require a suspension of disbelief.

But the mystery of a 58-foot-bridge that was reported missing from a property in Akron, a case that gained national attention, has been solved by Akron police.

The bridge, which also is 10 feet wide and 6 feet high, was found Friday afternoon partially disassembled on a property in Medina County, police say. A suspect has been arrested: David Bramley, 63, of Sharon Township, is charged with one count of theft, a fourth-degree felony.

Police say Bramley formally worked in the Akron area. He paid a trucking company for a crane service, then used the crane to place the bridge on and off a vehicle used in the transport to the property in Medina County, police say.

The bridge, formerly used in Middlebury Run Park, was reported stolen in November from a field behind Harwick Standard Corp. on South Seiberling Street in East Akron. Police say arrangements are being made to return it to Akron.
