The Spike Lee film "'BlacKkKlansman" is based on a true story about how a black Colorado Springs police officer became a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Ron Stallworth was thinking way outside the box when he responded to a newspaper ad seeking new members for the local chapter of the Klan. Stallworth wrote them a letter and signed it with his real name. He said he was surprised to get a phone call from an actual KKK member.
