LOS ANGELES — Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has reportedly been arrested after both parents were found stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home, police said. Nick, 32, is being held on a murder charge.
Authorities said Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were discovered Sunday afternoon in their Brentwood home with stab wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call around 3:30 p.m.
Police confirmed Nick was taken into custody on Monday, Dec. 15. He is being held at Parker Center Jail in Los Angeles. Officials have not yet released details about his court date.
Rob Reiner was a well-known actor and director, famous for films such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Princess Bride” and “This Is Spinal Tap.” His death has shocked Hollywood and fans around the world.
The couple’s daughter, Romy, reportedly found her parents inside the home before emergency crews arrived. The case is being handled by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, which is treating the incident as a double homicide.
Nick Reiner has struggled with drug addiction in the past. He spoke publicly about his battles in interviews and co-wrote the semi-autobiographical film “Being Charlie” with his father. Reports say he had been in and out of rehab facilities as a teenager.
