DETROIT -- A suspected dog-fighting ring was discovered Wednesday after Detroit police were contacted by concerned neighbors. According to Fox 2 Detroit, search warrants were executed on a home in the city’s northwest side where several pieces of evidence and eight dogs were removed from the property.

Anna Chrisman, spokesperson for the Michigan Humane Society said some of the evidence included items used to train dogs for fighting.

“From antibiotic kits, suture kits,” Chrisman said. “You get slap mills for training, there’s break sticks and things like that.”

Chrisman went on to say the dogs that were recovered from the house are in decent health with some requiring specialized medical treatments and “a lot of supportive care as well.”

Police did not indicate if any arrests had been made in the case.
