DES MOINES, Iowa -- A man accused of the ambush killings of two police officers last year pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Friday.
Scott Greene, who was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Des Moines Police Sgt. Anthony Beminio and Urbandale Officer Justin Martin, changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in court at a status conference, according to KCCI-TV.
Greene's trial was set for September in Dubuque County. The 46-year-old has been jailed since he was charged in the Nov. 2 shootings.
After changing his plea, the judge quickly sentenced Greene on two counts of first-degree murder to consecutive sentences of life in prison.
