A jury on Thursday found a suspect guilty of capital murder in the fatally shooting of a Virginia state trooper three years ago.

A Dinwiddie County jury found Russell E. Brown III guilty of capital murder in the March 2013 shooting death of Trooper Junius A. Walker, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The jurors rejected the defense's claims that Brown was psychotic and legally insane when he shot Walker four times in his police cruiser off of Interstate 85.

The decision was made after 8 hours of deliberation over two days.

"Finally, justice for Walker," the slain trooper's wife, Elizabeth Walker, said following the verdit.

Dinwiddie Commonwealth's Attorney Ann Cabell Baskervill said she will seek the death penalty for Brown, who could also be sentenced to life in prison.
