Authorities in Madison, Indiana are investigating two explosion targeting local law enforcement.
The most recent blast occured early Wednesday morning outside a judge's home just nine days after another blast was reported in the parking lot behind the Police Department and City Hall, according to WHAS-TV.
"We are considering these explosions as a message and a direct threat to members of the criminal justice system in our local community," Police Chief Dan Thurston told the news station. "If you are a neighbor or family member of a judge, prosecuting attorney, defense attorney, or police officer please be vigilant and observant in your area."
Thurston urged residents to stay alert and report anything that appeared unusual. In both instances, there were witness who heard the explosion but failed to report it to police.
"The smallest of leads could be what breaks open our case," Thurston said.
The Madison Police Department is working with Indiana State Police and federal investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to solve the case.
Evidence from the two explosions is currently being processed at an ATF lab.
