Six Cleveland police officers have been terminated and six others were suspended following the investigation into a deadly 2012 pursuit.
Public Safety Director Michael McGrath announced the disciplinary measures during a news conference held Tuesday, according to WEWS-TV.
McGrath said that the announcement brings 'closure' to the controversial Nov. 29, 2012 police shooting. During the incident, 13 officers fired a total of 137 shots into a vehicle, killing Timothy Russell and his passenger Malissa WIlliams after they lead police on a 24-minute high-speed chase.
Michael Brelo -- one of the officers fired -- was acquitted last year of two counts of voluntary manslaughter for his role in the incident.
McGrath said the six officers who were suspended will likely be back on the streets at some point.
Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association President Steve Loomis said during a press conference that the 2012 chase was 'more systemic failure from the top.'
The CPPA plans to fight the recommendations in order to 'get the officers' jobs back.
