Authorities arrested two Marksville, Louisiana police officers late Friday night in the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy during a traffic stop.

Lt. Derrick Stafford and Reserve Officer Norris Greenhouse Jr. were involved in the shooting Tuesday while working for the Alexandria City Marshal's Office in which 18 rounds were fired at a vehicle following a pursuit, according to The Advocate.

The boy, identified as Jeremy Mardis, was killed and his father was wounded in the shooting.

Stafford and Greenhouse, who were two of the four officers involved, were each charged with one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson announced the arrests late Friday night, saying that body camera footage of the incident "is one of the most disturbing scenes I have seen."

Marksville Police Chief Elster Smith Jr. said the other two officers involved in the shooting were Lt. Jason Brouillette and Sgt. Kenneth Parnell.

No use-of-force policy exists for the Marksville Police Department and there are no guidelines on shooting at vehicles.

The incident is currently under investigation.
