Disabled veteran Scott Lattin told Whitney police officers on Sept. 8 that someone had tagged his truck with "Black Lives Matter" and other graffiti all because he had pro-police messages and symbols on the truck, according to KDFW-TV.

Whitney police arrested Lattin Friday on a misdemeanor charge of making a false police report and Police Chief Chris Bentley called the case "very disturbing."

"We had initial video when the officers took the report and then when we saw your story on Channel 4," he told the news station, referring to the story they first ran. "When we looked at those two videos, there were some differences in those and that led us to take the investigation into a different direction."

When officers took the report there was no damage to the inside of the truck, but in the news station report, Lattin showed that the glove box was ripped off and the seats slashed.

Lattin denies the charges by police, but an arrest warrant affidavit said that he admitted to damaging the inside of his vehicle for insurance purposes.

Officials are not looking for any additional suspects and more charges against Lattin, including felonies, could be filed.
