Police in Hempstead Village, N.Y. say a burglar an officer tracked down Monday was given away by his red underwear.
Police say 18-year-old Taykim Ross sole $200, electronics and Air Jordan sneakers from one of two apartments in a Long Beach Road house around 10:30 a.m., according to Newsday.
Instead of fleeing the scene, Officer Russell Harris told the newspaper the teen stayed in the backyard to try on the shoes.
Harris said a neighbor in the other apartment snapped a photo of the suspect with one blue shoe on and one black. The neighbor then called the victim, who was at work.
The photo captured it all -- including Ross' bright red boxer shorts visible above his low-hanging jeans.
With the photo on his cellphone, Harris said he returned to the victim's home after unsuccessfully searching the area when he spotted someone bending over putting garbage down.
The when he spotted the bright red underwear.
The officer looked down at the cellphone photo, then looked up. It was an "exact match."
Ross was arrest and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on second-degree burglary.
