May 28, 2015

A ninth person was arrested in connection to shooting deaths of two Hattiesburg, Miss. police officers earlier this month.

Brodrick Kendell Varnado, 25, was charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday, according to The Hattiesburg American.

Varnado is currently being held in the Forrest County Jail and is awaiting his initial appearance in Hattiesburg Justice Court.

Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate each suffered fatal wounds during a traffic stop shortly before 8 p.m. May 9 on East Fourth Street.

Both officers were pronounced dead that night at Forrest General Hospital.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain Strain said the agency's investigation remains ongoing.
