Galveston County Grand Jury ruled Thursday that a Texas City officer who fatally shot a man outside a nightclub late last year won't face any charges.

Officer Christopher Ham was cleared of all charges in the death of 20-year-old Carlton Smith Jr., outside H.T.'s Lounge in December, according to KHOU-TV.

Officers had been called to the club for crowd control and a fight broke. Investigators said that a woman walked into the crowd with a handgun and fired at least one shot into the air before Smith got the gun.

The grand jury spent two days deliberating while reviewing evidence in the case. Evidence presented showed that Ham, who was the first officer on scene, shot Smith five times after he fired multiple shots into the crowd.
