Daron Dylon Wint, 34, is in custody after authorities arrested him on Rhode Island Ave in Northeast D.C. around 11 p.m., according to WJLA-TV.

U.S. Marshal Robert Fernandez of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force told the news station that he and his colleagues have had little sleep since they took on the case on Tuesday night.

The search for Wint stretched from D.C. to New York City and ended up back where it began with the suspect's arrest.

The investigation led authorities to the Howard Johnson motel on Route 1 in Prince George's County, Md. where U.S. Marshals observed Wint in a white vehicle in the parking lot. The car and a small moving truck left the parking lot and undercover officers began to follow.

As the car approached a Home Depot shopping center on Rhode Island Avenue, the task force pinned both vehicles and Wint was taking into custody without incident.

Wint's brother was behind the wheel of the moving truck and also was taken into custody. Sources told the news station that there was a large amount of cash found in the truck.

The arrest of Wint comes a week after authorities said 46-year-old Savvas Savopoulos; his 47-year-old wife, Amy; their son, Philip; and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa were killed before their mansion was set on fire.

"We are thankful to law enforcement who have worked so diligently to bring about an arrest in this case," the Savopoulos family in a statement Friday morning. "While it does not abate our pain, we hope that it begins to restore a sense of calm and security to our neighborhood and to our city."

Police have not detailed a possible motive for the slayings.
