Md. Suspect Arrested After Facebook Taunt

Roger Ray was arrested one day after allegedly taunting Anne Arundel County police on Facebook.

EDGEWATER, Md. -- A 28-year-old Edgewater man wanted for violating his probation was arrested one day after taunting police on Facebook, according to Anne Arundel County police.

"Y'all will never catch me," said a post Wednesday from the Facebook page of Roger Ray Ireland of Chestnut Road, police said.

Following the post, officers received tips about Ireland's location. He was arrested Thursday and served with an outstanding warrant for violating terms of his probation, police said.

The post came after police announced on their own Facebook page that Ireland was a wanted suspect. Detectives found Ireland at 1 p.m. Thursday in south Baltimore, near the Anne Arundel line. Police said the detectives stopped a vehicle he was in, then took Ireland into custody without incident.

Ireland isn't the first wanted man whose Facebook posts helped police. In June of last year, another wanted man was arrested after posting a Facebook message criticizing the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office.
