Dozens of police officers and volunteers are searching for a 10 year old Belding boy who went fishing Saturday afternoon and never returned.

The boy, Devon Morrison, was last seen Saturday, about 2:30 p.m. carrying a fishing pole. His family said he frequently fished along the Flat River in this small town of 5700 in Ionia County. Search crews worked their way down the river, and in nearby fields throughout the night.

Police found what they believe were the boy's sneakers on the banks of the river early Sunday morning. Divers from several police agencies were searching the river today. Michigan State Police provided a helicopter and the FBI is expected to join the investigation today.

Belding police chief Dale Nelson said the boy often went to the river to fish, returning after a few hours to report back home. "This time he didn't come back," Nelson said. His family reported him missing Saturday evening.

The boy was wearing black jeans and a red sweatshirt.
