A Macon police officer arrested on drug and child endangerment charges has resigned before the department decided her fate.
Kontrina Lanette Toomer submitted a letter of resignation, according to a news release early Tuesday from the Macon Police Department.
"She is no longer employed by the Macon Police Department," the release stated.
Toomer, 27, was arrested Thursday afternoon after a raid at her home on North Frontage Road in Forsyth.
Police Internal Affairs officers took her gun, badge and other police-related items while she was detained at the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, according to a sheriff's office release.
The Monroe County case still is under investigation, and police are cooperating with the sheriff's office.
Toomer, who is assigned to the department's Precinct 4, is the fifth Macon officer arrested in 2013. She was hired in October 2010.
Toomer was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and child endangerment. Additional charges could be added.
Horace Ray Wise, 30, also was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute dangerous drugs, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, child endangerment and violation of probation as part of the Thursday raid, the sheriff's office said.
Drug task force members found more than 11 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale, pills, a semiautomatic handgun and more than $4,000 at the house.
Children at the house were turned over to family members, and the Division of Family and Children Services was notified.
