Four Murders, Multiple Shootings Reported in Baltimore

Baltimore City police are investigating four homicides that occurred late Saturday through early Sunday morning among a series of weekend shootings.

A man and a woman died after they were apparently shot shortly before midnight, police said Sunday.

Police said they were called at 11:56 p.m. Saturday to the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Outside, they found the two adults suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospitals, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not determined a motive, according to Detective Angela Carter-Watson. She said a possible relationship between the victims was part of the investigation.

Police also were called to the 5200 block of St. Charles Avenue at 4:42 a.m. Sunday for a reported assault, she said.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not determined a motive, according Carter-Watson.

Names of the victims in those incidents were not released as of noon Sunday.

In addition, a man who was reported shot Saturday evening in the 500 block of East 26th St. has died, police said. In that incident, police responded at 9:17 p.m. to a residence in the 500 block of East 26th Street for a report of a shooting, and found a man inside. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the face and was taken to an area hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police have not determined a motive.

Police identified him as Danquel Darden, 37, of the 2000 block of East Baltimore Street.

Police ask that anyone with information on the homicides call detectives at 410- 396-2100.

Those incidents come on the heels of an early Saturday morning shooting in which one woman was killed and three other women and a man injured. That incident occurred in the 700 block of N. Kenwood Ave. Police are investigating.

Also, in a separate incident, three men were injured around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when someone fired into a group of people in the 5100 block of Arbutus Avenue, according to Carter-Watson. She said the three, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound, were taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition Sunday morning.

Police also received a call for a shooting around 4:21 p.m Saturday in the 200 block of South Dallas Court. They did not find a victim there, but minutes later were dispatched for a report of victim in the 200 block of South Broadway, according to Carter-Watson, and found a male sitting on a park bench there suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left leg. He was taken to a hospital. Police said it was determined that the crime scene was the South Dallas Court address.

No motive has been established for that shooting, according to Carter-Watson. Anyone with information is asked to call Southeast District detectives at 410-396-2422.
