A Missouri man killed and dismembered a victim, then threw the person's arms at witnesses after apparently having set fires to hide the slaying, police allege.
Paul R. Potter, 49, of Kirksville was charged Monday with second-degree murder, tampering with a motor vehicle and arson in the Sunday night incident, the Kirksville Daily Express reported.
Potter was being held in the Adair County Jail under $1 million bond after police alleged he confessed.
The victim's identity had not been released as of Tuesday morning, the newspaper said.
The Kansas City Star reported police said they saw Potter throw two objects, later determined to be human arms, at witnesses. The victim's body was found in one of two apartments they found on fire.
Potter also is alleged to have set fire to a car outside the apartment complex.
Police said the victim had knife wounds in the face and sternum and both arms were severed. Investigators said they found blood evidence in both apartments and several knives in and outside Potter's apartment, the Star said.
