San Antonio Officer Dies of Crash Injuries

A San Antonio police officer seriously injured in a collision earlier this month has died.

Officer Edrees Mukhtar, 28, died at University Hospital late Saturday afternoon, according to KENS5.com.

Mukhtar had been with the police force since May 2011, according to the department's Facebook page.

On Dec. 10, Mukhtar was driving eastbound in a Ford Crown Victoria cruiser when he drove over a patch of water and hit the curb. It spun into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
