PHARR, Texas -- Federal officials discovered a shipment of frozen strawberries held at least $2.7 million worth of marijuana at the Pharr international bridge Tuesday night.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found 622 packages -- about 2,760 pounds -- of the drug in a trailer attempting to pass through the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility.

Authorities found that the buckets of frozen fruit held marijuana after the cargo was X-rayed and referred to a secondary inspection.

The tractor pulling the trailer carrying the fruit and the drugs were all seized, a CBP news release said.

The release did not say whether the driver faces any charges.
