Virginia Police Officer Charged With Embezzlement

Chesapeake Officer Michael Mobley was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of embezzlement.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Police Officer Michael Mobley was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of embezzlement, according to a news release and Officer Kelly O'Sullivan, a police spokeswoman.

Chesapeake police conducted a four-month investigation, during which Mobley was on administrative leave without pay, the release said. He was released Friday on a personal recognizance bond, O'Sullivan said.

Police released no further details late Friday.

Mobley, a 28-year-old Virginia Beach resident, has been employed as a police officer for about five years, the release said.

He has been a diver on the department's Underwater Search and Recovery Team.
