Oct. 19--MADISON -- A Capitol Police officer accidentally fired his or her weapon at the governor's mansion on Thursday night, leading to the officer's suspension.

Department of Administration spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis said that at 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a call that a shot had been fired at the mansion in the village of Maple Bluff. The officer had accidentally discharged a firearm in the security office, but Gov. Scott Walker and his family were not at the residence and no one was injured.

The officer is currently suspended with pay until the investigation is complete, Marquis said.
