Sept. 26--A man found shot to death in front of the Wesley West emergency room early Wednesday morning committed suicide, police said.

The 37-year-old man called 911 at about 2:45 a.m. and said he was feeling suicidal, Lt. Doug Nolte said. While a dispatcher was still on the phone with him, two gunshots were heard.

Officers sent to his address found him on the sidewalk in front of the Wesley West ER in the 8700 block of West 13th, Nolte said. He was dead at the scene.

While police do not typically discuss suicides, Nolte said, this case was deemed an exception because of the public setting in which it occurred.
