Sept. 25-- A convicted felon was jailed early Monday after he crashed a stolen car into a portable building during a high-speed chase, authorities said.

Justin Wayne Locust, 25, is in the Tulsa Jail on complaints including possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding police, jail records show.

A Tulsa County sheriff's deputy who was patrolling the area near 4500 S. Union Place about 6:45 p.m. Sunday saw a white Mercedes Benz that matched the description of one that was recently stolen.

After confirming that the vehicle was the one that had been reported stolen, the deputy attempted a traffic stop, according to an arrest report.

The driver sped up and turned east, nearly striking several cars, according to the deputy, and the Mercedes reached speeds of 100 mph in a 40-mph zone before entering a mobile home park at 70 mph, the report says.

Deputies terminated the pursuit at that point because of "extreme public safety hazard," they said.

The car crashed into a portable metal building in a mobile home's front yard. The driver fled on foot, witnesses said.

Locust was arrested after a witness spotted him jumping a fence and told Tulsa police officers, who had established a perimeter around the park.

Locust was complaining of back pain and was taken to the Oklahoma State University Medical Center for treatment. He was booked into the Tulsa Jail shortly after midnight Sunday night, records show.

Locust has pleaded guilty in three Tulsa County felony cases since 2005 on charges that include possession of a stolen vehicle and assault and battery on a juvenile facility employee.

He most recently was released from prison in July 2011 after serving nine months of a two-year sentence for possession of a firearm after a felony conviction in Creek County.
