Sept. 21--A physician who has offices in Van Nuys and Northridge has been arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of sexual assault, state medical officials said Thursday.

Dr. Kevin Pezeshki, an obstetrician and gynecologist, was arrested in August for allegedly committing unlawful acts of sexual penetration on a victim, according to the California Medical Board. The board announced the arrest Thursday and police say they are still looking for other possible victims.

The arrest stems from two incidents in 2008, one at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and one at his office near the hospital, said Los Angeles Police Department detective Katherine Gosser.

He also practiced at Advanced Women Care Medical Group at 13750 Victory Blvd. in Van Nuys and currently works at an office in Panorama City.

Additional victims also have come forward, Gosser said, but authorities believe there could be more.

Pezeshki, 43, was held on a $200,000 bond. He has since bailed out, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department.

"Investigators with the Medical Board's Operation Safe Medicine, along with the Los Angeles Police Department, conducted an investigation that led to the charges against Dr. Pezeshki," according to the California Medical Board.

His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2012.

"This investigation and arrest reflects the Medical Board's ongoing commitment to fulfill the mission of public protection," said Linda Whitney, executive director of the Medical Board.

Various websites list his affiliations with Providence Tarzana Medical Center, Northridge Hospital Medical Center and Mission Community Hospital.

A spokeswoman with Providence Tarzana said Pezeshki has not been on staff at the hospital for two years. Other hospitals contacted seeking comment did not return calls.

An attorney for Pezeshki said he had no comment on the case.
