Sept. 10--Beaver County police are searching for a Hopewell driver suspected of ramming a police cruiser, breaking an officer's leg, while fleeing from an early morning traffic stop.
Center police said they attempted to stop Jerrin Lammar Humphries, 23, on Route 18 around 12:45 a.m. Monday for an expired license plate, said Chief Barry Kramer. Humphries did not stop and instead proceeded to Interstate 376, they said. Kramer said during the chase Humphries attempted to hit police vehicles and oncoming traffic.
Aliquippa police Officer Rob Sealock attempted to block Humphries, who slammed head-on into the police vehicle, Kramer said. Humphries then fled on foot. Police pursued him with a K-9 officer to no avail. Kramer said he did not know if Humphries was injured.
Sealock was taken to Heritage Valley Beaver hospital for observation. Kramer said he has been released.
