Aug. 09--Three Clovis police cars collided Wednesday night while the officers were driving to help a Fresno County Sheriff's deputy.

The three officers had minor injuries, spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said.

The crash happened about 9:45 p.m. near DeWolf and East Gettysburg avenues, where the deputy asked for help checking on some possible wire thieves.

Stoll-Lee said an officer saw five people and stopped to speak to them. An officer in a following car slowed, but the officer in the third car collided with the second, pushing that car into the first.

Stoll-Lee said the officers had been driving about 45 mph.

Two officers were treated and released at Community Regional Medical Center. The third was treated at the scene.
