Aug. 02--It must have been somebody's birthday.

A 25-year-old man broke into the Dairy Queen on North Rock Road early Thursday morning and helped himself to some candles and an ice cream cake, Lt. Doug Nolte said. But police officers arrived so quickly that they arrested him in the store.

An alarm alerted 911 at 3:55 a.m. at the business at 3248 N. Rock Road, Nolte said. Officers who responded to the alarm found evidence of a forced entry and, after surrounding the building, went inside.

They found the man holding two candles and the cake, Nolte said. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
