July 25--A Lexington woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after police say she hit a police cruiser while driving away from the scene of an altercation, wrecked the car, tried to eat drugs and a crack pipe and was shocked with a Taser by a police officer.
The series of events began at 3:44 p.m., when police were called to a disorder at a home in the 400 block of Ash Street for the second time on Tuesday, said Lexington police Lt. Clayton Roberts.
Taranita Black, 31, who was involved somehow in the disorder, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked at the home while police interviewed witnesses.
Roberts said Black suddenly slid into the driver's seat and drove away, colliding with a police cruiser and nearly hitting Officer Ricky Linn and a witness.
Linn pursued Black in his cruiser, but she lost control on Newtown Pike near Main Street and hit a telephone pole, Roberts said.
When Linn approached the car, Black was trying to eat a crack pipe and a substance police think is crack cocaine, Roberts said.
When Black refused to stop, Roberts said Linn broke the car's window and used his Taser.
Black was not injured in the crash but was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries she obtained from the disorder on Ash Street, Roberts said.
She will be charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading police, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
Linn was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his hand.
