Naked Conn. Man Attacks Woman, Girl
July 24--WEST HAVEN -- A naked man was tasered after he attacked a 9-year-old girl and her mother -- who then was hit by a car, police said.
The man, identified by police as Lawrence Jones, 47, of Homeside Avenue, appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said. He was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and one count each of risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.
He was in custody Tuesday morning on $25,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned later in the day at Superior Court in Milford.
According to police, the incident happened about 1:20 p.m. Monday on Jones' street. Police received several 911 calls about a naked man chasing and attacking a woman.
Responding officers were confronted by Jones, who they said was combative. Officers shot him with a stun gun after he refused to obey their commands, police said in a press release.
Police then learned that the woman he was chasing had been struck by a car and was lying in the street. Witnesses told the officers Jones struck the 9-year-old in the face as she tried to help her mother.
Information about the woman's condition was not immediately available.
