July 04--A state trooper going to his patrol car found the body of a 65-year-old man, who is suspected of shooting himself just outside the Uniontown barracks this morning.
Cpl. Rich Quinn, who found the body, said he was going to get his camera, which he had used in another investigation, "and I saw him."
The body was on the sidewalk with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Quinn would not release the name of the man, pending autopsy and notification of next of kin, but said the man resided in Fayette County.
Quinn said he had never seen anything like it before. "Hopefully I never see anything like it again," he said.
Quinn said state police said didn't don't know the man and that he didn't work at the barracks.
"We don't know him," he said
The man apparently drove to the barracks, turned his vehicle off and exited. No one heard the gunshot, Quinn said. The body was found about noon.
