Police in Florida said a robbery suspect was arrested when police were called by the taxi driver she asked to wait outside of the targeted store.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said Cynthia Sheik did not display a weapon Saturday when she entered the Race Track store in Port Charlotte and demanded the clerk hand over money from the register, the Fort Myers News-Press reported Monday.
Investigators said the taxi driver Sheik had asked to wait for her outside of the store called police during the robbery because he feared Sheik was not going to pay him.
An alarm when off when Sheik received $320 from the clerk and she fled the store, only to be confronted by a Punta Gorda police officer who had been in the area.
Sheik was arrested without incident and the investigation was turned over to Charlotte County deputies.
