June 08--Four people were injured in Sausalito after they overturned in a stolen car during a run from a federal park ranger, authorities said.

The pursuit began shortly after 2 p.m. in the Marin Headlands, where a National Park Service ranger saw four people in a car who appeared to be "casing" vehicles to burglarize, said Alexandra Picavet, spokeswoman for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The ranger checked the license plate number and learned the car had been reported stolen in Napa County. When the suspects in the car saw the ranger, they sped away in the car and headed down Alexander Avenue toward Sausalito.

On a curve near Danes Drive, the road to the Baker-Barry Tunnel, the driver lost control and

crashed the car into a light pole, Picavet said. The pole was sheared from its base and the car overturned.

The California Highway Patrol and Southern Marin firefighters responded, finding two suspects outside the vehicle and two trapped inside. All four were taken to Marin General Hospital for treatment of cuts and other injuries.

The car, a black 2009 Ford Fusion, was stolen during a burglary on June 1 in St. Helena, a police spokeswoman said. The investigation is continuing.

The names of the suspects were not released Thursday afternoon.
