June 05--PORT ORCHARD -- A Poulsbo woman was charged in Kitsap County District Court on Monday with assaulting Port Orchard police officers.
An officer pulled the 34-year-old over at about 1 a.m. Sunday because he said she was veering in her lane on Bethel Avenue. She looked, smelled and acted like she was drunk, the officer said. She tried to perform physical tests, but didn't do well, according to police and court documents.
After being arrested for driving under the influence, the woman kicked the windows of the police car. She was taken out of the car, and dug her nails into an officer's hands, causing bloody cuts. She bit another policeman's leg, according to the documents.
She was taken to the Kitsap County jail, where she refused to give breath samples. She remains in jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.
