Wash. Robber Drops Phone at Scene of Theft

Detectives are looking for a male suspect who left his cellphone at the Walmart in East Bremerton while fleeing from the store after an alleged theft.

May 28--EAST BREMERTON -- Detectives are looking for a male suspect who left his cellphone at the Walmart on Highway 303 while fleeing from the store after an alleged theft.

According to a Kitsap County Sheriff's Office report, the cellphone contained text messages about items that apparently had been stolen and photos of the man.

The suspect entered the store Friday afternoon and took two computers from the shelves, according to the report. As he was leaving the store, a Walmart employee approached the him. The suspect dropped the desktop computers and struck the employee before running down the street.

As the employee chased the suspect down the street, the suspect's cellphone and a pack of cigarettes fell out of his pocket, the report stated. The employee saw the suspect get in a car at a nearby gas station.

The employee later discovered the cellphone had numerous text messages and photos of merchandise and photos of the suspect.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the store and with the sheriff's office are trying to locate the man.
