May 21--A fund has been created to help a Suffolk police officer who was injured in the line of duty.

Officer James Winslow was attacked Saturday during a traffic stop on Nansemond Parkway. He was found unconscious in the woods with head injuries. Winslow is currently in the intensive care unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The Suffolk Police Officers Association Local 780 established the fund, a news release said. Donations can be made in person or mailed to Monarch Bank, located at 2999 Corporate Lane, Suite B8 in Suffolk. Envelopes should be addressed to the Suffolk Police Officers Association, in care of Officer James Winslow.

Checks should include Officer James Winslow's name in the memo line, the release said.
