May 21--STAMFORD -- Four Stamford men were arrested and charged with being in illegal possession of a pistol late Friday after police say they saw the men throw a .22 caliber revolver out of their car as it was being chased by police.
Because none of the men claimed possession of the gun, driver Ian Zachary Evans, 19, of 36 Jordan Lane and his passengers Saquail Glover, 20, of 62 Warren St., Deshawn Hayes , 20, of 87 Givens Ave., and Morris Joel Moore, 20, of 276 Cove Road, were charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Hayes and Evans, who are convicted felons, were additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Glover and Moore were charged with carrying a pistol without a permit.
Stamford Police Lt. Tim Shaw said plain-clothed narcotics officers were at Cove Island Park at around 10 p.m. Friday when a while BMW swung through the park's parking lot.
Police immediately noticed the heavily tinted car windows and then saw him weave through pedestrians, several of whom had to move out of the way of the car.
When police turned on their lights to pull the vehicle over after the BMW left the park, the vehicle kept driving until he nearly pulled over on Dora Street. Officers noticed that someone threw something out of the car, Shaw said.
After a chase lasted about a half mile, Shaw said the BMW pulled over and police found a small amount of marijuana on one of the passengers.
Police went back to Dora Street to see what had been pitched out the window and found a loaded .22 caliber revolver on the ground, Shaw said.
Evans was additionally charged with engaging police in pursuit, interfering with an officer and conspiracy to commit the crime of possession of a firearm.
