May 21--A woman attempting to flee a scene and threatening to run over Georgetown police officers after a domestic incident was shot late Sunday night, Georgetown police said.
The woman was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. Georgetown police spokesman Lt. Robert Swanigan said she was alive, but he did not know more about her condition.
Swanigan did not release the woman's identity or the name of the officer that shot her. Georgetown police will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. Monday.
Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call at 11:55 p.m. Sunday on Fawn Run Court in Elkhorn Run subdivision off U.S. 460 on the east side of town, Swanigan said.
"They ended up with a female getting into a vehicle, and refusing officers' orders to stop," Swanigan said. "She then struck several cars, one of those including a police car which was parked in front of the house. And then there was an officer who was in her path, and she drove at him with the car, and another officer fearing for his safety and the other officer's safety, fired one round into the car."
Kentucky State Police are investigating.
