May 18 - Police detectives and FBI agents arrested a man this morning after he fell through a ceiling, broke through a glass door and ran naked from the home where police were trying to take him into custody on charges from last year, police said.
Detectives and FBI agents from the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force raided a home in the 1000 block of West 115th Street about 6:45 a.m., looking for the 27-year-old man who was believed to be staying there with relatives, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The man was wanted in connection with trying to run down officers and eluding police in the South Chicago District last December during a traffic stop in the 7600 block of South Essex Avenue, as well as on a possession of crack cocaine and marijuana charge from August 2011, Kubiak said.
When police and agents went to the 115th Street home this morning, they found the man was hiding in the attic. After they ordered him out, he fell through the ceiling and fled through the home, punching two FBI agents and a detective as he made his way to the back door, Kubiak said.
The man broke through the back glass door of the home with his fists and ran naked from the home, at one point jumping over a chain link fence, then falling and injuring himself, before he was captured in the 11500 block of South Sangamon Street, less than a block from the home, Kubiak said.
After his arrest, the man was treated and released from Roseland Hospital. Charges were pending against him, Kubiak said.
