A Port Authority police captain assigned to Internal Affairs was canned last night after he admitted e-mailing questions for a sergeants exam from his office computer to his home, sources told The Post.
Investigators suspect Capt. John Ferrigno, 49, wanted to share the questions for the oral portion of the test - which was administered last June - with his pals, to help them pass, the sources added.
He took a picture of the questions with his cellphone before sending them, both breaches of department rules and possible violations of state and federal laws, the sources said.
Ferrigno - a 19-year veteran who earned more than $185,000 in 2011 - said he couldn't print them, so he forwarded the e-mail to a neighbor who did it for him.
He was one of the officers who administered the exam and claimed he wanted the questions so he would be better prepared.
Thirteen cops took the test.
No evidence has been uncovered that any of them actually got the questions in advance, but the probe is continuing.
If such evidence comes to light, anyone promoted to sergeant after getting an advance look could lose the promotion.
Ferrigno could also lose his full pension,since he has fewer than 20 years on the job.
