An Anne Arundel County police officer was taken to the hospital Sunday evening after being hit by a car during a traffic stop in the Parole area, police said.
The officer was struck near Md. 665 at U.S. 50 around 9 p.m.., said Lt. Glenn Shanahan. Two vehicles were coming around a corner, he said. One rear-ended the other, which then hit the officer.
Three people who were in the car that hit the other ran from the scene, Shanahan said. Two of the suspects were later taken in to custody, and police were still searching for the third person late Sunday.
The officer was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not life threatening, emergency dispatchers said. His condition was not available late Sunday evening.
