Fla. Troopers Seek Driver Who Hit Downed Motorcyclist
April 15--The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the public's help in finding a vehicle which troopers say fled after striking a motorcyclist who had crashed on a Volusia County roadway Saturday.
Troopers say the motorcyclist, whose name hasn't been released, was driving north on Tomoka Farms Road when he lost control and crashed near Country Circle Drive about 9:25 p.m.
The driver landed in the southbound lanes, where he was hit by a second, unidentified vehicle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
The second vehicle's driver fled, troopers say. Troopers don't have a vehicle description, but say it likely suffered front end damage. The crash remained under investigation late Saturday.
