Two people wanted in connection with a Waynesboro shooting and an attempted vehicle assault on a police officer were arrested Monday in West Virginia.
Samuel Kevin Bridge, 26, and Ashley Nicole Knight, 24, were located in a wooded area in Buckhannon, W.Va., around 3:30 Monday afternoon.
They were being held for extradition in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in Bellington, W.Va.
U.S. Marshals, West Virginia State Police and the Upshur County Sheriff's Office took Bridge and Knight into custody, according to a release by the Waynesboro police.
Bridge is charged with malicious wounding and three other offenses in connection with the April 3 shooting of Jeremiah Woodson, 36, at the Quadrangle Apartments in Waynesboro.
A day later, police recovered a black 2012 Ford Focus with West Virginia dealer tags at Parkway Village Apartments they believed was used in the shooting by Bridge.
The same day, police spotted a Ford Mustang with West Virginia dealer tags. The car initially stopped, and then sped off nearly hitting a Waynesboro detective.
New Market police recovered the Mustang on Thursday. Police say the Mustang was stolen from the same West Virginia dealership as the Ford Focus. Police also have an outstanding warrant for felony assault on a police officer against Knight.
