April 04--A Uniontown man was seriously injured Wednesday after his stepfather allegedly forced his motorcycle off Route 51, causing a crash, state police said.
Allen Rockwell, 37, was flown to Ruby Memorial Medical Center in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment of two broken legs and head trauma, according to state police in Uniontown.
Police said they plan to charge Rockwell's stepfather, Timothy Rockwell, 46, of Markleysburg, with aggravated assault in connection with the accident at 7:17 p.m.
"Troopers from Uniontown barracks responded to an incident that was initially believed to be a motor vehicle crash. After further investigation it is believed that this incident was an intentional act," said state police public information officer Stefani A. Plume.
Police said the pair earlier had a verbal confrontation in the Bitner area and have "a history."
Police allege that after the argument, the elder Rockwell drove south on Route 51 and pulled off. According to Plume, Tim Rockwell waited in a wide pull-off area until he spotted Allen Rockwell approaching on his 1973 Yamaha motorcycle.
"Timothy pulled out and travelled into the left lane, forcing Allen Rockwell off the road and (to) lose control," police said.
