March 27--Police investigators will continue the job today of trying to determine what caused the deaths of two sisters whose bodies were found Monday evening inside a northern Charlotte house.

There were no signs of foul play, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.

A concerned family member called 911 just after 7 p.m. and told dispatchers the sisters had not made contact with family "in quite some time," according to a police release.

A police report identifies the victims as Laura Yvonne Snell, 48, and Victoria Snell, 47.

Paramedics and the fire department entered the home on Thelema Lane, near West W.T. Harris Boulevard and Sugar Creek Road, and found the two women dead. The Charlotte Fire Department tested for signs of carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas toxic to humans, but none was detected. The Mecklenburg medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

In the meantime, investigators canvassed the neighborhood late Monday to see if family members had any information.

Police encourage anyone with information about the deaths to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) to speak directly to a homicide detective. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
