March 13--A state liquor control agent from Allentown suffered a medical emergency Monday afternoon and crashed a state police car into a public building and mail box in Collegeville, Montomery County, police said.

Michael T. Higgins, 40, of the state police Bureau of Liquor Enforcement became ill at 5:50 p.m. and made an abrupt U-turn, jumping a curb and hitting the Collegeville municipal building at 491 E. Main St., state police at Skippack said.

Higgins had a minor injury from the crash, which made "a significant impact with the front of the building," where the Postal Service drop-off box also was hit, police said.

Trappe Ambulance took Higgins to a local hospital for treatment.

State police Cpl. Dan Steele said the initial investigation and witness accounts indicated Higgins lost control of the car as a result of a medical condition. No charges will be filed, Steele said.

The disabled police car was towed from the scene.

The Collegeville Police Department and Collegeville Fire Company assisted at the accident scene.
