A woman led Florida state troopers on a 13-mile high-speed chase after threatening an officer who stopped her for speeding, police said.

Jenifer Karina Rodriguez, 25, of Sebastian, was arrested Tuesday after her tires were flattened by police stop sticks and she lost control and hit a tree, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. She was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, fleeing police and threatening a public servant.

The incident began after Cpl. Robert Ruiz of the Florida Highway Patrol pulled Rodriguez over on I-95 in St. Lucie County because he had clocked her doing 74 mph in a construction zone with a 60 mph limit, a police affidavit said. Ruiz first told her he would ticket her for doing 69 mph, which would have cut the fine from $600 to $128, but then changed his mind when she yelled at him.

Ruiz said Rodriguez's tirade became more extreme.

"I am going to kill you," the motorist shouted at the trooper, he said. "You are dead."

Rodriguez sped away while he was trying to get her keys, Ruiz said. During the chase, she allegedly tried to hit his patrol car.
